Aunt Irene’s Coleslaw
Our Supper last night. Steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce, Texas Toast and Aunt Irene’s Slaw. My mother’s Aunt Irene made this coleslaw for years and all of my family loves it! We think it is by far better than KFC’s mayo based coleslaw. It has a slight kick to it with the hot sauce and it is much better if you make it the night before. We love it with BBQ and just about anything else!
Ya’ll Enjoy!
AUNT IRENE’S SLAW
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 pound bag shredded cabbage and carrots
- 1 cup Duke’s or Hellman’s Mayo
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 8-10 dashes Hot Sauce
- Salt and Pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Preferably the night before you will serve the slaw, mix the mayo, sugar, vinegar and hot sauce in a large bowl. Add the cabbage and carrots and toss thoroughly. Salt and Pepper to taste. Refrigerate and stir before serving.
Ya’ll enjoy!
