Daddy Ray’s Blue Cheese Buttermilk Dressing
My Dad. Raymond Morris Kemp. One of the funniest and brilliant man I have ever known. He was raised in a two room home in an extremely poor environment and went on to graduate High School at 16 and went to Tennessee Tech University to eventually become a top NASA Electrical Engineer. He made friends with everyone he met and we all loved him. He was a cook in the US Army and made some of the most delicious, unusual things. Like this Blue Cheese Dressing. He just decided he wanted to try to make a great dressing and boy did he!!! When I left for college at TTU and was truly alone for the first time in my dorm room, I went to the grocery store the next day and made this dressing. I kept it in a Ball Jar in my dorm fridge and went thru a Quart jar every week. It is truly the best Blue Cheese dressing I have ever had. And every time I eat it, I thank God for my Daddy!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup mayonnaise (I use Duke’s or Hellmans)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1-2 cups buttermilk depending on your thickness taste
- 1 teaspoon cracked Black Peppercorns
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 6 ounces crumbled blue cheese
DIRECTIONS:
Mix Mayo, Sour Cream and Buttermilk in a large bowl. Pour slowly into a Quart Mason Jar – preferably an Antique Blue one. Add Peppercorns, salt and Blue Cheese and shake well. Shake well before use and store in the fridge.
OPTIONAL: Grated Onion, Garlic Powder, Worcestershire Sauce, Tobasco Sauce
