Chocolate Decadence
This recipe was a complete afterthought after making some chocolate cakes in a mold and I had leftover batter. Made a cherry topping and incorporated the leftover batter with Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix. Used melted Ghiradelli dark, white and milk chocolate morsels drizzled over top. I made this by accident, but can fit in either a Bundt pan, a 13″ by 9″ baking pan or divided between two 9″ cake pans.
1 box Duncan Hines Decadent Triple Chocolate cake mix
1 box chocolate Jello mix
1 box Ghiradelli Decadent Triple Chocolate brownie mix
1 package Ghiradelli dark chocolate morsels, melted
1 package Ghiradelli white chocolate morsels, melted
1 package Ghiradelli milk chocolate morsels, melted
1 cup half and half
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
Cooking spray or butter
Prepared cherry sauce, cooled
CHERRY SAUCE
16 oz frozen pitted cherries
2 Tb water
2 Tb butter
2 Tb sugar
2 tsp cornstarch
CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES (optional)
2 pints strawberries, rinsed and drained
Melted white and dark chocolate from cake recipe
Preheat oven to 350.
In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients for cherry sauce in pan. Heat just to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
In a large mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients from both cake boxes and Jello pudding. Add eggs, water, oil and half and half. Mix with blender on medium speed.
Spray pans with cooking spray. Divide cherry mixture into pans. Pour cake mix into pans. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool.
Invert onto platter.
Pour chocolate morsels into three separate small mixing bowls. Microwave each bowl for 1 minute on 50% power and then in 30 second intervals on high until almost melted. Stir to melt the rest of the way.
Drizzle chocolate over cake in a side to side motion using each variety of morsels.
For strawberries, dip each in white chocolate. Set on plate with wax paper. Put in freezer a few minutes to harden white chocolate layer.
Remove strawberries from freezer and dip into dark chocolate. Set back on plate with wax paper and put back in freezer for a few minutes or until chocolate hardens once more. Garnish cake(s) with strawberries.
Y’all Enjoy!
