Best Shades of Chocolate Bundt Cake
When you think of Valentine’s Day or ways to show your Love, what do you think of? Chocolate? Flowers? Kisses? Oreos? Cherries or Strawberries? All of the above!!! This rich, sexy, super moist and decadent cake can be for ANY occasion ….can you imagine getting this for your Birthday? Or “I have to have Chocolate NOW” days?
I came up with this Bundt cake with one of my favorite methods of using Pudding, Sour Cream and Milk in a Butter based Cake Mix. Then I added Mini Milk Chocolate Morsels and that results in a cake so moist and chocolaty that you don’t even have to add frosting or a glaze, but then of course we will add a glaze…….and Kisses…..or Cherries……or Oreos! I cut the cake in thirds to show three ways to top your cake! Choose one, two or all three ways like I did! And O my it turned out so decadent and lovely…….perfect for ANY occasion!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package Butter Chocolate cake mix – I used Duncan Hines Super Moist Butter Recipe Chocolate
- 1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix (or Vanilla flavor with 2 Tablespoons Cocoa Mix – it gives a richness to it)
- 1 cup Sour Cream
- 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 cup Mini Milk Chocolate Morsels
TOPPINGS
- Maraschino Cherries
- White Chocolate Chips, Melted in a double broiler or in a microwavable coffee cup
- Oreos
- Chocolate Kisses
- Dark Chocolate Icing
- Milk Chocolate Icing
INSTRUCTIONS
Prep the Bundt Pan by spraying well with Pam Cooking spray. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together the dry ingredients in one bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk the wet ingredients together.
In a large mixing bowl, slowly combine the two together while mixing at medium speed. Mix for 3 minutes on medium speed making sure to scrape the sides! A stand mixer works so well!
After mixed, fold in Chocolate Morsels into batter.
Gently pour into Bundt pan and bake for 50-60 minutes until toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool for at least 45 minutes to an hour before adding frosting. I cut the cake into three sections to show the three ways to top it, but you can choose just one topping and leave the cake whole.
Melt frostings for 20 seconds and stir well. Use a spoon to drizzle frosting over the cake. If the frosting isn’t easy to drizzle, heat it up in the microwave for 10 more seconds. This will make it easier to work with. Melt the white Chocolate Chips in a microwavable Coffee Cup with same method.
KISSES: Unwrap Chocolate Kisses. Drizzle Milk Chocolate and then Dark Chocolate Icing over cake. Line up Kisses on top of cake and at the base. Drizzle with more Icing of choice!
CHERRIES: Drizzle Dark Chocolate over cake. Place cherries along top and base of cake. Drizzle with White Chocolate and other Chocolates as desired.
OREOS: Half Oreos with large knife, carefully. Drizzle Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Icing over cake. Line up Oreo halves along top and base of cake. Drizzle White Chocolate and other chocolates over Oreos.
Ya’ll Enjoy!

I made this last week as comfort food for my Granny’s funeral. It was so easy to make. Even though I only added the icing and no other extras to the top of it was still delicious and my Mom has already requested that make it again because she knew that my Granny would have loved it since it was all Chocolate. Thank you for your simple steps and pictures.
